I Believe

Give a little bit of love & you get it back
Give a little bit of pain you’re caught in a trap
For every little thing that you say or do
Give a little bit of love & it’ll come back to you

Photo Time!

I have a wee collection of pics for your perusal:

Here we have my niece Harriet who is now 3 months old 🙂 she is gawwwwjus!!! Her hair was originally quite dark but is now going fair like mine. I got a text from my Brother yesterday saying Harriet now weighs 12lb 13oz – they are thinking of introducing her to solids as she feeds a lot.

Yesterday I purchased four Pigeon breasts from one of the local butchers – I had previously brought some Rabbit & that was lovely (Tastes like pork), so I thought I’d try something else; Pigeon is divine! Tastes like liver & I have some still in the fridge waiting to be eaten..nom nom nom.

This is a fairly new tattoo, you cannot see the colors too well, but in between the black lines is a bit of purple – I got this at the bottom of my neck & it was a present from me to me to say ‘Well done’ on giving up on my life up-north,moving to be closer to my family & getting a job so quickly.

Here’s my latest tattoo that I got at the top of my left arm; I’ve always loved Dragonflies and was amazed when I was canoeing in Canada in ’97 and a massive one came up beside us – just incredible to watch it fly along. I also read somewhere that the represent ‘Change’ – I got this tattoo to show I’m not afraid of it.

I’m still enjoying my new job – ok so its early days yet, but I’m working hard at it & am pleased with the results (As is my boss which makes it better) & I have rehearsals at the Theatre again tonight – should be good 🙂 – I’ll let you know how it goes.

Until next time,

Rachel. xoxo

Guess What?

Well hello there!!

Sorry it’s been like, forever, but I haven’t always been able to get on here for one reason or another.  So what has been going on in the weird & wonderful world of Rachel?…..

It all started last Monday when I was called to the managers office – now I couldn’t think what I had done wrong – but you know, it’s like when you go thro the detector thingys at an airport – you always feel guilty despite not having done anything – the same when you pass a police officer – or maybe that’s just me!

Anyhoo I got to the office & my boss was there & was smiling 🙂 <– like that which confused me, but I smiled back & well basically he offered me promotion – so I took it! & as of yesterday I’m running a department in a superstore. I’m enjoying it so far – getting the department how I want it & making sure I do a good job in the mean time. It’s good to have full-time work when there are so many that don’t have work at all.

Theeeeen 2 days later I auditioned for a part in the local Theatre companies production of ‘The House Of Dracula’ & I ended up getting one 🙂 I’ve been wanting to get back to acting for years – I love it but never got round to it.

Crazy that I love being on stage – my audition was in front of 12 people & I wasn’t that nervous – I guess I’m just a show-off!

The first rehearsals went well – it’s a lovely theatre & the other actors are a good bunch. The Director couldn’t make it so the Producer took charge & we did a bit of improvisation; myself & a few others had to pretend to be at a high school prom – I decided to be drunk & chat a few people up haha it was great!!

Later on when each of us had a turn there was talk about ‘Blocking’… which means we read from the script and are told how to move & how to say our lines – it was all very technical & took over an hour to get thro 10 pages (The entire script is 50+), it was really good & altho my character isn’t in the first 10 pages, I stood in for someone & will probably do that a few more times cos not everyone can make each rehearsal – I can, so I feel quite fortunate.

I’ve already read thro the script numerous times, but I guess it’s good to know what you’re doing esp if people are paying to see you!!

The next rehearsal is this Thursday & I cannot wait – I just love getting on that stage, it feels right to be there – that’s the only way I can explain it.

So yeah, this past week has been pretty darn good, a promotion, a part in a play & I also got some money that was due to me which will help pay for a laptop 🙂

I shall try to update this here blog a bit more now, but my time online is even more limited because of work, but once I get the laptop it’ll be easier.

Until next time…..

Shirt & Comb

He came home downcast that day the bearer of bad news

She smiled at him as he came in as he stood there in his muddy shoes;

He loved her so his poor heart cracked & telling what was told

Her smile froze her mouth went slack

& his grief oppressed him double-fold.

He said ‘I’m not the master of my fate as I would wish to be

But I’m leaving now & I cannot be late, they ship out tonight & they’re taking me’

‘Our mission’s still a mystery I’m just one of many men

Who must leave their homes & their families & might not pass this way again’

She said ‘I’ll come with you my love, I’m not afraid nor weak,

No, I will bind my breasts & crop my hair & I’ll speak low just like a boy would speak’

‘But you cannot come with me my love for they do not take volunteers,

Oh but there is one thing to you I swear, tho I may be gone for many years,

No shirt shall ever touch my skin nor comb go thro my hair

& I’ll think of the bed you’re in & I’ll wish that I were lying with you…there’

Hey 🙂

Dunno if you remember a previous post entitled ‘Unhelpful Bank’ – here’s the link  in case you wanna check it out: – I got a letter re: my complaint:

Dear Miss Ellie,

Thank you for your patience whilst I have been investigating your recent complaint. I am sorry for any inconvenience caused.

I understand that you are unhappy that on 16 June 2010 you called Natwest to cancel your bank card for your account ending *76*, as it has been lost. Upon speaking with the branch you were assured that it had been cancelled, however it transpired that they cancelled the incorrect card, for your account ending *73*, and you had to visit the nearest branch in order to withdraw some money. Please accept my sincere apologies for the problems that you have experienced.

I note that you were advised in the branch that the person you spoke with by telephone had not cancelled the card or raised your complaint as requested. This was in fact done and I am sorry that you were given the incorrect information.

Upon checking our records I note that a new card was despatched to you on 18 June 2010 for the account ending *76* and on 17 June 2010 for account *73*. I trust that you have now received them, however I appreciate that you will have been inconvenienced and I have arranged for £50 to be credited to account *76* as a gesture of goodwill and I hope this is satisfactory to you.

Please let me know if you remain dissatisfied by either phoning me on the above number or writing to me. If we cannot reach agreement then you will have the right to refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service, but I hope that will not prove necessary. If I don’t hear from you by eight weeks from the date of this letter then I will regard you complaint as closed.

I am sorry that you needed to contact us and am grateful to you for bringing this to our attention. As I mentioned above, please get in touch with me if you want to discuss the matter further.

Yours sincerely

Paul  Morgan

Customer Relations

To be honest I didn’t expect such a quick reply & I certainly didn’t expect £50, I am happy with the letter and the monies, but unfortunately I feel as if I am waiting for the bank to screw up again.

I shall be taking no further action against the bank but I will and have told people of my experience.
