Guess What?

Well hello there!!

Sorry it’s been like, forever, but I haven’t always been able to get on here for one reason or another.  So what has been going on in the weird & wonderful world of Rachel?…..

It all started last Monday when I was called to the managers office - now I couldn’t think what I had done wrong – but you know, it’s like when you go thro the detector thingys at an airport – you always feel guilty despite not having done anything – the same when you pass a police officer – or maybe that’s just me!

Anyhoo I got to the office & my boss was there & was smiling <– like that which confused me, but I smiled back & well basically he offered me promotion – so I took it! & as of yesterday I’m running a department in a superstore. I’m enjoying it so far – getting the department how I want it & making sure I do a good job in the mean time. It’s good to have full-time work when there are so many that don’t have work at all.

Theeeeen 2 days later I auditioned for a part in the local Theatre companies production of ‘The House Of Dracula’ & I ended up getting one I’ve been wanting to get back to acting for years – I love it but never got round to it.

Crazy that I love being on stage – my audition was in front of 12 people & I wasn’t that nervous – I guess I’m just a show-off!

The first rehearsals went well – it’s a lovely theatre & the other actors are a good bunch. The Director couldn’t make it so the Producer took charge & we did a bit of improvisation; myself & a few others had to pretend to be at a high school prom – I decided to be drunk & chat a few people up haha it was great!!

Later on when each of us had a turn there was talk about ‘Blocking’… which means we read from the script and are told how to move & how to say our lines – it was all very technical & took over an hour to get thro 10 pages (The entire script is 50+), it was really good & altho my character isn’t in the first 10 pages, I stood in for someone & will probably do that a few more times cos not everyone can make each rehearsal – I can, so I feel quite fortunate.

I’ve already read thro the script numerous times, but I guess it’s good to know what you’re doing esp if people are paying to see you!!

The next rehearsal is this Thursday & I cannot wait – I just love getting on that stage, it feels right to be there – that’s the only way I can explain it.

So yeah, this past week has been pretty darn good, a promotion, a part in a play & I also got some money that was due to me which will help pay for a laptop

I shall try to update this here blog a bit more now, but my time online is even more limited because of work, but once I get the laptop it’ll be easier.
